Health & Physical Education

At Geraldton Senior High School students participate in a broad range of Health and Physical Education programs. Students in Year 7-10 are exposed to a variety of sporting activities during two blocks of Physical Education each week.  Additionally, students in Year 9 and 10 can choose electives of Sport and Fitness and Outdoor Pursuits. 

Upper school students (Year 11 and 12) have the option of continuing their studies in Physical Education Studies, Outdoor Education Studies and a Certificate II in Sport and Recreation. The completion of these courses can cater to students wishing to pursue Tertiary Education or industry bound careers.

Students are educated on current world affairs in Health Education, along with information with the aim of developing lifelong healthy habits. Topics covered in Health from Year 7 to 10 include; Relationships, Drugs and Alcohol, Decision Making, Bullying, Nutrition, Puberty and Digital Citizenship. Students in Year 10 also participate in SEDRA’s Keys4Life Driver Education Program.  

Outside of classes, students have the opportunity to participate in Swimming and Athletics Carnivals, along with annual Netball, Football (AFL), Rugby and Surfing Carnivals, and Country Week.
