Student Services

The Student Services team builds positive relationships between students, staff and families to help students achieve better academically, socially and emotionally.

The team consists of:

  • Deputy Principal
  • Manager Student Services
  • 4 x House Coordinators
  • Transition Coordinator
  • 2 x School Chaplains
  • School Psychologist
  • Community Health Nurse
  • First Aid Officer
  • Aboriginal & Islander Education Officers
  • Administration Officers

The Student Services team welcomes students into the school by delivering the Transition and Orientation programs, and provides support through Form classes, which is the basis of pastoral care within the school.

Student Services provides opportunities for students to develop leadership and teamwork skills through involvement in:

  • Student Council, School Ball, Year 12 Leavers Jackets, Community fundraising events, NAIDOC celebrations, Assemblies and School representation at public forums and through external programs in the local and wider communities.

Student Services staff work with individuals and groups to develop general and specific life skills, targeting goal setting, building self-esteem, conflict resolution, developing resilience and problem solving. Each year a program offering guest speakers and workshop opportunities is developed to address social and emotional well-being in students and encourage students to be responsible for self-managing their health.

13YARN is a phoneline that aims to look after Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people. They can provide free and confidential counselling on the phone. The phoneline is also run and operated by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

The E-Safety Commissioner’s job is to help Australians feel safe when they are online. They are run by the Australian Government. They have a great website that can help you learn how to stay safe while using the internet and teach you what to do if you experience something negative online.

Headspace is a national youth mental health foundation. Headspace focuses on looking after the health of young Australians aged 12-25. Their services provide support for mental health, physical health, drug and alcohol services, and study assistance. They have a centre in Geraldton where you can talk to a mental health professional. They also provide free and confidential phone and webchat counselling.

Lifeline is a crisis support line that aims to support all Australians that are experiencing distress. 

Lifeline is a great service for anyone experiencing a crisis or anyone having thoughts of suicide or self-harm. Lifeline’s strength is that they have three ways you can speak to them for free and confidential counselling. You can phone them, text them, or start a webchat with them online. They also have a page of fact sheets that might help you get information about mental health if you do not want to talk.
