Our motto, ‘The Seeker Finds’ has been part of the school since 1939 and is as meaningful today as it was when the school opened so many years ago.
Geraldton Senior High School caters for students in Years 7- 12 enabling young people to complete their entire secondary education at our school.
Our belief is that every child is unique with experience, learning styles and goals. From this we provide a broad comprehensive education with pathways consisting of WACE (Western Australian Certificate of Education) courses, Endorsed Programs and Vocational Education and Training (VET) qualifications. Students are provided with the opportunity to complete a individualised pathway which could lead to an attainment of an ATAR (Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank) or the successful transition to further training and future employment We encourage each student to participate in a range of state and national competitions, and to take up extra-curricular activities in music, drama, dance and sport.
Our highly experienced teaching and support staff are passionate about the learning and development of your children. We encourage critical thinking and problem-solving skills. We promote positive behaviour by embedding our values of ‘Respect, Responsibility and Doing Your Best’ in all activities, whether in or out of the classroom. We use the latest teaching methods and combine real-life, relevant examples and experience so students can relate to the work they do and are better prepared after they successfully complete their schooling.
We offer a large range of curriculum opportunities in all learning areas which is enhanced by purpose built facilities for Hospitality, Visual and Performing Arts along with Design and Digital Technologies. Our VET program enables apprenticeships, traineeships and other programs. We have a fully equipped Technologies department allows students to study an array of hands-on programs from Building and Construction, Mechanics and Jewellery. Geraldton Senior High School also has an on-site Trade Training Centre providing programs in Laboratory skills, Engineering and Electro-technology
We offer several specialised programs including Literacy and Numeracy support, and engagement programs. We also have optional language and cultural programs for male and female Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. Our Special Education Needs program provides an extensive range of enrichment activities that provide opportunities for students who need additional support.
